DCE familiarises himself with situations at Examination Centres

On Monday, 7th August, 2023, the District Chief Executive of Berekum West visited various examination centres within the district to familiarize himself with the situation pertaining to those centers and to interact with the pupils by giving them some sense of encouragement.

A total of 960 candidates from 41 Schools registered for the on-going Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Berekum West District. The candidates are made up of 492 Males and 468 Females from 29 and 12 public and private schools respectively. These statistics were revealed by the supervisors to the Chief Executive of the district.

The Hon. DCE visited all the three centers with Jinijini SHS “B” having the highest number of candidates of 446. At Jinijini SHS A, 262 candidates registered and 252 candidates were at St. Augustine SHS. A total of five(5) candidates were absent on the day. Jinijini SHS “A” center recorded no absentee. However, both Jinijini SHS “B” and St. Augustine SHS all had two (2) females each being absent with one (1) additional male absent at St. Augustine SHS.

The examination, according to supervisors started on time. There was a police officer stationed at the various centres to maintain law and order. When the DCE and his entourage got to the Jinijini SHS “A” and “B” centres, the candidates had finished the first paper, Religious and Moral Education ( R. M. E). The DCE urged them to have confidence in themselves, eschew any examination malpractice and enjoy the free SHS programme.

Mr. Dominic Oppong also appealed to the invigilators to maintain the highest professional standard and to ensure impartiality for the successful completion of the test in the area.

The District Chief Executives was accompanied by the Presiding Member, Nana Hon. Anthony Addai, Assistant Directors, Mr. Maxwell Aborigo and Miss Gifty Addai and the District Information Officer, Domfeh Emmanuel.
