BEREKUM WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY’S INTERNAL AUDIT UNIT AWARDED BEST INTERNAL AUDIT UNIT 2021 (MMDA CATEGORY)
Hon. John Kumah, Deputy Minister for Finance closed the just ended Internal Audit Conference organized by the Internal Audit Agency Conference on 18th August, 2022.
The event was climaxed with an awards ceremony. There were seven (7) categories of awards which had recipients from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs) and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). The categories were: Best Head of Covered Entity that supports IAU, Best ERM Compliant Institution, Best Internal Audit Unit, DG’s Special Award to Best Female Internal Auditor, Best Audit Committee, Best Internal Auditor and Integrity Personality in Internal Auditing. Awards were also given to institutions which sponsored the Conference.
Among these awards was Berekum West District Assembly’s Internal Audit unit being awarded the Best Internal Audit Unit. The award was received by Mrs. Catherine Nyarko – The Head of the unit.
HON. DOMINIC OPPONG’S INTERNATIONAL ENGAGEMENT.*
The District Chief Executive, (DCE) of Berekum West, Hon. Dominic Oppong left Bono Region with his entourage for Accra on the 29th and 30th July, 2022 to have bilateral talks with three Envoys in Ghana.
His two-day stay in Accra saw him hold bilateral talks with His Excellency Mr. Mochizuki Hisanobu ( Japanese Ambassador to Ghana), Her Excellency Ms. Grace Jeanet Mason( South African Ambassador to Ghana), and Germany Counselor to Ghana- Sivine Jansen.
The meetings aimed to strengthen the ties between Berekum West District and these countries.
TRAINING ON SNAIL FARMING FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
As part of the mandate of the department of social welfare & community development to provide resources and engage persons with disability on productive income generating activities, the department organized a one day snail farming training for twenty (20) persons with disabilities in the district on 26th August 2022 at the District Assembly premises. Participants were taken through both theory and practical aspect of snail farming.
